Arlington


Arlington is also one of the first areas settled by Europeans in the 1500's, and history buffs will enjoy a visit to Fort Caroline National Memorial. Arlington also offers a variety of shopping, dining, entertainment, and outdoor activities.

Don't be fooled. At first glance, Arlington may seem like little more than typical suburbia. Yet Arlington is one of the first areas in the United States visited by Europeans. It was the site of the French Fort Caroline in 1564, nowadays the Fort Caroline National Memorial is there for visitors to enjoy. On the outskirts of Arlington, the 46,000-acre Timucuan Ecological and Historical Preserve continues to be heralded by as one of the most beautiful and magical natural settings. Make sure to stop at Tree Hill Nature Center or the Jacksonville Arboretum and Gardens and bring your gear for the biking and hiking trails in the area.

Beaches


Atlantic Beach
Located in Northeast Florida, Atlantic Beach claims miles of laid-back beaches and close proximity to excellent golf, parks and the big-city energy of Jacksonville. Atlantic Beach shimmers with history, the site of what many experts believe was the first year-round Native American settlement in North America.? Neptune Beach
Neptune Beach is a quiet, residential community with many of its homes remaining in the same family for generations. Jacksonville Beach

Fleming Island

Julington Creek


Julington Creek Plantation Community Development District encompasses approximately 4,120 acres and is located in northwest St. John’s County, approximately twenty miles south of downtown Jacksonville, seven miles south of I-295, and fifteen miles west of the Atlantic Ocean. The community is halfway between the historic city of St. Augustine and the excitement of downtown Jacksonville.

Mandarin


Named for the Mandarin orange in 1830, this neighborhood on the St. Johns River just south of San Marco was once described as “a tropical paradise” by Harriet Beecher Stowe, the author of Uncle Tom’s Cabin. Both Harriet Beecher Stowe, and painter Lee Adams once lived here. Mandarin is characterized by its magnificent oak trees hung with dramatic Spanish moss and boasts some of the best views of the St. Johns River in greater Jacksonville. Once an important river port for shipping oranges and other citrus fruit northward, today Mandarin is a blend of residential areas and shopping centers. Don't miss the Mandarin Museum and Walter Jones Historical Park. The 10-acre riverfront site is home to an 1876 farm complex with picnic areas as well as a citrus grove.

Murray Hill & Ortega


Murray Hill is a great neighborhood to inspire you to eat all of the carbs at some amazing local restaurants! This neighborhood has gone through quite the transformation over the last few years. Located just north of Avondale and west of Riverside, it’s easily accessible to all. The neighborhood is also home to a large collection of murals created by local artists.

The Ortega community is one of the wealthiest in the nation. Come to Ortega for a stroll along the St. Johns River and take in what many consider to be the best views of the Downtown skyline.

At the “Southern Gateway” to Jacksonville, Bartram Park is situated in one of North Florida’s fastest growing areas. Residents have the ability to work and shop with minimal commuting. With a new interchange on Interstate 95, Bartram Park has direct access within minutes of downtown Jacksonville, St. Augustine and the Jacksonville Beaches. Less than a mile from the entrance to Bartram Park is Flagler Center which employs over 8,000 people and includes groups such as Baptist Medical Center South, Citicorp, and Florida State College of Jacksonville. The connection of Bartram Park Boulevard has been a critical link between northern St. Johns County communities and southern Duval County.

Publix grocery, Kohl’s department store, banking, restaurants and gas/convenience stores are established businesses within Bartram Park, and the retail amenities continue to grow. Adding to the surrounding medical corridor, Bartram Park has Brooks Rehabilitation, a 100 acre medical campus and Bartram Office Park, a 126,000 sq. ft. office park consisting mostly of medical specialists.

Northside


Check out the Northside and Airport areas where you can visit the Jacksonville Zoo & Gardens. The beautiful Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve offers numerous outdoors activities and historic sites like Kingsley Plantation for a glimpse into the past.

Three of Jacksonville’s main travel hubs –the Jacksonville International Airport, the Amtrak station and the JAXPORT Cruise Terminal, are located in this area. The River City Marketplace offers outdoor shopping from major retailers, as well as over 20 restaurants.

If you're looking for a way to quickly put the stress of travel behind you, head to the Talbot Island State Parks, the Timucuan Ecological & Historic Preserve and Kingsley Plantation. Located just 20 miles northeast of the city, these parks provide a not-to be-missed nature adventure.

Just off I-95, the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens impresses with its newest exhibit, Land of the Tigers. Jacksonville is not short on history options for you to choose from. There's another noteworthy stop to see on Jacksonville's Northside. Kingsley Plantation and The Ribault Club are within the Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve offering visitors a glance back in time to the antebellum South.

This is a hip part of town with a young population. San Marco


San Marco is a historic neighborhood just a few minutes from Downtown. Visit San Marco's distinctive boutiques and art galleries and enjoy the full-fledged dining district which has plenty of outdoor cafe seating and diverse options.

Located just minutes away from Downtown's Southbank is the historic neighborhood of San Marco. Stroll along San Marco Square and you'll discover incredible dining, upscale trendy clothing boutiques, and sensational art galleries. The San Marco movie theatre and Theatre Jacksonville, the oldest community theatre in the country dating back to 1938, are also located within the square. Riverfront park in San Marco is a wonderful location for city views, especially during the sunset.

Don't miss the San Marco fountain of lions, which reflect the neighborhood's association with the Venice, Italy business district. Save your appetite and visit the new San Marco dining district, it includes some of Jacksonville’s best restaurants. Southside & Intracoastal West


The mostly residential areas of the Southside are brimming with history and nature and boast some of the most stunning river views in Jacksonville.

The Southside has blossomed into a bustling business center. The St. Johns Town Center - a 1.1 million-square-foot, open-air lifestyle center offering innovative new retail, residential, hotel, and dining choices for Jacksonville shoppers is one of the highlights of the area. St. Augustine & World Golf Village


Recently named the overall best city in Florida to live in by Money, St. Augustine is so much more than the nation’s oldest city. With large and small developments coming in to the region in record numbers, its population has exploded in the last 25 years. Historic homes, a bustling Old Town district and the rejuvenation of the Lincolnville neighborhood all contribute to the Oldest City’s charm. Flagler College sits in the center of the town, helping to develop a unique “locals” culture that’s separate from the traditional pirate and tourist themes.

Just west of St. Augustine sits World Golf Village, a premier golf course community. Resort-style amenities, shopping, tennis and more are featured throughout this community, which is lined with ancient oaks, nature preserves and wetlands.

Westside & Orange Park


Some say the Westside offers the best city skyline views in Jacksonville. Take in the historic mansions in the wealthy Ortega neighborhood or enjoy outdoor activities like hiking, camping, fishing, and boating in nearby Orange Park.

The 3-mile-long Buckman Bridge across the St. Johns River links Mandarin with The Westside. With its beginnings dating back to 1763, The Westside area features waterfront mansions, Tudor-style homes, and modest wooden-frame houses dating back to the early 1900s. The Westside is well-known for its full-service marinas, nautical outfitters, and boating facilities. It is also the home of Naval Air Station Jacksonville the birthplace of the Blue Angels, the U.S. Navy’s world-renowned flight demonstration team.

The Westside of Jacksonville is home to one of the best equestrian centers on the East coast, Jacksonville Equestrian Center. The premier facility for regional and national events showcases the best in horse competitions. When horse shows are not in town, the Equestrian Center hosts a wide range of entertainment events like concerts, mud-runs, and athletic competitions.

Just south of Jacksonville and west of the St. Johns River, Orange Park offers camping, hiking, and water activities for all. In need of a boat, rent one for the day or for the night with Boat Florida Rentals. The Orange Park area is home to Doctor's Lake and Black Creek providing boaters the perfect place to wakeboard, fish, or just relax on the water.

Once part of Naval Air Station's Cecil Field, the Jacksonville Baldwin Rail Trail, is part of a nation-wide, federally initiated “Rails to Trails” program. It includes more than 30 miles of unpaved roads that traverse through the pine flatwoods. An equestrian trail also parallels the paved trail.
